Remembering David Bowie (1947-2016): His Best Ten Records....according to Rolling Stone readers....

David Bowie (1947-2016) died of liver cancer just two days after his 69th birthday on Jan. 10, 2016, which happened to be the 71st birthday of Rod Stewart, another '70s and '80s rock music icon as well as the 63rd birthday of Pat Benatar, an '80s new wave pop sensation. His contemporaries were as diverse as the late Lou Reed and Billy Idol.

Bowie was also a remarkable actor who starred in "The Man Who Fell to Earth" (1976) and "Merry Christmas, Mr. Lawrence" (1983), and "The Hunger" (1983) with Susan Sarandon and he was one of the world's premiere art collectors.

The Last Ten Songs We Heard on Simon-FM Greensboro, NC: 'Play Piano Man, Man'

Greetings to our blog readers in Dubai, Greece and Panama....

And, a special hello to those of us visiting us from Portland, Oregon, where the IFC show "Portlandia" takes place; it is now 8:16 a.m. in the west coast United States, and hopefully you will get more done in the next three hours than those of us here on the east coast did this morning!

Today, also happens to be World Radio Day, so I send a special shout out to WUVT (90.7 FM-Blacksburg, Va.) where I used to play songs from the late Turkish pop star Baris Manco and Ibrahim Tatlises (who is still alive) during "The Turkish Music Hour," I co-hosted in 1994.

Manco is not in the Simon-FM (98.7-Greensboro, NC) play list, which proves they don't really play everything as their promotion touts, but they do play everything from soft core heavy metal to hip hop.

Here are ten songs we heard during the 2:00-3:00 p.m. hour on Tuesday (in reverse order):

Google/Bing Question of the Day: How Many Top 40 Hits Did Huey Lewis and the News Have?

The 1980s band Huey Lewis and the News is celebrating the 30th anniversary of the release of their biggest-selling album "Sports," which featured "I Wanna New Drug," "Heart and Soul" and "The Heart of Rock N Roll," by touring North America.

So, we decided to ask one of the major search engines (we don't play favorites here, well......I guess there are times when we do): How Many Top 40 Hits Did Huey Lewis and the News Have"?

As it turns out the San Francisco-based band had 16 top 40 hits, including three number-one songs: "Jacob's Ladder," "The Power of Love" and "Stuck with You," none of which were on "Sports."

Huey Lewis and the News are now swinging through the east coast. They play at Wolf Trap in Vienna, Va., just outside of Washington, DC, tomorrow night. Their competition will be '80s new wave pop singer Adam Ant ("Goody Two Shoes") who will be playing at the 9:30 Club in the nation's capital.

The band then plays Atlantic City, NJ, (Aug. 16th), Nashville, Tenn. (Aug. 25th) and Boston (aug. 28th).
