Greetings to our blog readers in Austria, Dubai, and Singapore....
Tonight, we continue marking our tenth anniversary of blogging with an inspiring quote from noteworthy person.
The Quote of the Week and a series of quotes from people in a given, such as playwrights (Arthur Miller and Neil Simon) or punk rockers (Lou Reed of Iggy Pop) used to be standards on our two blogs, so hence we are quoting jazz great Herbie Hancock ("Watermelon Man," "Rockit") with one of his vintage quotes:
"It's a part of life to have obstacles. It's about overcoming obstacles that's the key to happiness."
SIDEBAR: We want to welcome Pope Francis to the United States, and we hope he enjoyed his time in Washington, DC, today. Somehow, we can't imagine that he will go to the 9:30 Club while he is in the nation's capital.

Comic Strip Survey: For the First Time, We Check Out the Baltimore Sun
Greetings to our blog readers in Hong Kong, Turkey, and Germany........
This week for the first time in the eight-year history of this blog, we look at Sunday comic strips from "The Baltimore Sun." We were hoping to see "Zippy the Pinhead," and as it turns out, yesterday Bill Griffith's comic strip was truly a piece of art. Today, he made vintage fun of Donald Trump; even Bao Bao, the panda at the National Zoo in Washington, D.C., isn't such an easy target.
Omigosh, we just made a major faux paux as it is considered rude to mention Washington, D.C., when one is talking about Baltimore. Fortunately, when I briefly met John Waters, a cult film director from Charm City, in 2002, I did not make this mistake. But, I only talked to him for about eight seconds, which is how long I spent talking to Willie Nelson backstage at a Farm Aid concert around that same time.
"The Baltimore Sun" features several comic strips which we don't see in the other newspapers we survey, like "The Washington Post" (whoops again!), including "Mother Goose and Grimm," "The Middletons," and "One Big Happy." All three of those strips made our big list.
First place goes to "Foxtrot," which features the family going out for a Sunday picnic at a state park in a place like The Humpback Bridge State Park in Covington, Va., and they encounters all sorts of natural elements likes ticks (top image), poison ivy, and snakes. Of course, in Florida, they would also have to worry about alligators.
Third place goes to "Speed Bump," in which a judge (center image) tweets his verdict, somehow we can't imagine Supreme Court Justice Clarence Thomas doing such a thing (ahhh, that's the third D.C. reference).
And, in sixth place, we have "Mother Goose and Grimm," which ironically has a nursery rhyme themed strip (given its title) as Humpty Dumpty falls off his great wall. We actually didn't get the Obamacare gag (and, that makes four), but we liked the strip enough as it is.
Now, let's give this list which you can perhaps read on the Metro after you've come back from seeing that new Woody Allen movie at the Landmark E-Street Cinema...........now, we are up to five!:
1) Foxtrot
2) Pearls Before Swine
3) Speed Bump
4) Dilbert
5) Get Fuzzy
6) Mother Goose and Grimm
7) The Middletons
8) One Big Happy
9) Garfield
10) Zits

Top 10 Comic Strips from the Sunday Washington Post: Lio Takes Gold
Greetings to our blog readers in Switzerland, Sweden and Turkey........
Today, we once again rank our ten favorite comic strips from the Sunday edition of "The Washington Post," which carries 40 comic strips, including some that rarely make the cut, ie. "Hagar the Horrible," which was brilliant 40 years ago..........oh well.........
Since, there squids in both "Lio," which came in first, and "Brewster Rockit: Space Guy," which came in third, we thought we'd start off with an image of an animal that you can eat in most Greek restaurants. The late Soupy Sales is the image in our middle slot as "Rhymes with Orange," the second place strip had a pie-in-the-face gag which Sales was famous for, but the strip actually has clowns as the subject of its joke.
Finally, a map of the United States marking where Kansas is will be used for our final image as the always hip Garry Trudeau nailed Gov. Sam Brownback (R) in a financial fiasco which messed up the lives of countless educators and school students across 'The Land of Oz.' According to our iPhone, Topeka, Kansas, and Washington, D.C., are almost exactly 1,000 miles from each other. Brownback was also a Republican member of the U.S. Senate.
Here is our top ten:
1. Lio
2. Rhymes with Orange
3. Brewster Rockit
4. Doonesbury
5. Pearls Before Swine
6. WuMo
7. Speed Bump
8. Knight Life
9. Prickly City
10. Sherman's Lagoon

The DC List (3 of 3)..........Last Group of Republican Congressman.............and when they turn 103
Welcome to our beloved blog readers in Croatia, Costa Rica and Brazil!
For those of you who live outside America, the Republican Party is a far right wing coalition of Jump-4-Jesus evangelicals, Yosemite Sam gun nuts, fringe anti-government anarchists, rich greedy multimillionaires and war mongering radicals who like to see us invade the Canadian province of Nova Scotia.
Of course, in spite of this, we respect their members who serve in public office and the long hours they put in up in Washington, DC, and on the golf courses they play on for fundraisers.
Here are ten more Republican House members and the years in which they will turn 103, when their seats might become competitive again:
1. Cong. Rob Wittman (R-Va., pict. top) 2062
2. Cong. Richard Hudson (R-NC, pict. center) 2074
3. Cong. Mick Mulvaney (R-SC, pict. bottom) 2070
4. Cong. Rick Crawford (R-Ark.) 2069
5. Cong. Rodney Davis (R-Ill.) 2073
6. Cong. John Culberson (R-Tex.) 2059
7. Cong. Jeff Fortenberry (R-Neb.) 2063
8. Cong. Chris Smith (R-NJ) 2056
9. Cong. John Duncan (R-TN) 2050
10. Cong. Paul Ryan (R-Wisc., failed 2012 veep nominee) 2073

The DC List (1 of 3): Meet Your Republican Congressional Members...........and, guess when they will turn 103
Greetings to our blog readers from Argentina, France and Malaysia.......we are coming to you live from the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, well, actually, we just said that to get your attention!
At any rate as even yack herders in Mongolia now by now there were mid-term elections to determine which party gets control of the House of Representatives and the U.S. Senate, and alas (yes, we are biased), the Republicans won. But, after watching "The Partridge Family" reruns for five straight days and getting mopped and depressed, we thought of what Mel Brooks once said: "The best way to get even with your enemies is to make fun of them."
So, as gerrymandering will assure that Republicans will hold their seats for years and years on end even if they smoke pot on a ski trip to Colorado or run over an old woman's foot with their Hummer in a Target parking lot in Florida, we thought we'd let you the voter know when your Republican Congressional member is scheduled to turn 103! Oh, and of course, we forgot to add if you are playing Angry Birds as bills are being voted on in the floor; it is actually an addictive game, we'll give you that!
And, of course, we once again, choose to make fun of our own Republican Congressman Bob Goodlatte (R-Va) who was first elected to the House of Reps in 1992 during the infamous Newt Gingrich takeover of the house.
Here is when your rep turns 103 years old:
1) Cong. Virginia Foxx (R-NC, pictured top) 2046
2) Cong. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va, pictured center) 2055
3) Cong Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah) 2070
4) Cong. Martha Roby (R-Ala) 2079 (she's a young one, especially for a Republican!)
5) Cong. Gus Bilirakis (R-Fla) 2066 (whew! We almost didn't spell his name right....)
6) Cong. Darrell Issa (R-Cal.) 2056
7) Cong. Tom Graves (R-Ga) 2073 (that's also the year I turn 103!)
8) Cong. Steve King (R-Iowa) 2052
9) Cong. Mike Coffman (R-Colo.) 2058
10) Cong. Mike Simpson (R-Idaho) 2053

Quote of the Day: Famous Authors (1 of 5)
Alas, we did not get around to quoting authors of banned books during Banned Books Week last week. We know that Politics and Prose in Washington, D.C., and other book stores, such as Malaprop's Bookstore/Cafe in Asheville, NC, and the Boulder Bookstore in Boulder, Colo., probably took part as well.
There is also little doubt in our mind that many libraries and book shops banned D.H. Lawrence's erotic literary masterpiece "Young Lady's Chatterly," which has the distinction of being made into a cheesy sexplotation film that aired on late night cable in the 1980s and a highly respected French art film made just a few years ago.
Here is a quote from D.H. Lawrence:
"Never trust the artist. Trust the tale."

SIDEBAR: This week, we are also referencing new slang word we have learned from the web site for The Urban Dictionary; they will not teach you these words in an ESL class at Guilford Tech Community College in Greensboro, NC (nudge, nudge, wink, wink):
'Walks on both sides of the street,' this is how someone in a rural hamlet like Welch, WV, will refer to a person who is bisexual; conversely, we presume it's risky to be a bisexual in West Virginia!

This Weekend at the Cinema: "The Congress" is NOT About Washington, DC
Greetings to our blog readers in Iceland, Japan and planet Mars!
Girl Power! Today, we feature three films starring women, which are either opening or are still showing at various theatres, cinemas and drive-ins in our mid-Atlantic portion of the United States.
We start off with the lovely Star Lite Drive-In in Christiansburg, Va (near Blacksburg) where they are screening "Lucy" at 8:45 pm and 10:30 pm this weekend; Scarlett Johansson once again delivers.
In Washington, DC, an indy film called "The Congress" is opening at the West End Cinema, but the film about an aging actress who decides to maintain her beauty by capturing herself digitally has nothing to with the U.S. Congress. Robin Wright who is in the Netflix series "House of Cards," which is actually about the U.S. Congress, stars in the film.
At the same venue, "Life of Crime" based on the Elmore Leonard novel "Switch" begins its run; the film features Jennifer Anniston and Tim Robbins. Curiously enough, it is also showing at the Tower Theatre out west in Salt Lake City, Utah.
The historic Byrd Theatre in downtown Richmond, Va., which usually shows second-run features is showing "Maleficent" with Angelina Jolie (is she the one married to Brad Pitt? Just kidding!). The cinema is also showing "Tammy" and "How to Train Your Dragon 2."
The Grandin Theatre in Roanoke, Va., is showing "Life After Beth" which just one screening at 9:15 p.m. throughout the week; the same venue is opening "Calvary," an Irish film about a Catholic priest, this weekend, a film that is also showing at many arthouses, including the Carolina Theatre in Durham, NC, and a/perture in Winston-Salem, Va., which is also screening "Alive Inside," a documentary explaining how music can dwelve into our souls and transmit healing powers. We suspect that the new age group of yesteryear Tangerine Dream is better able to perform this task than the speed metal band of yesteryear Anthrax???!!!!

On Stage: Boy George is Back
Yes, Boy George, the lead singer of Culture Club, a new wave pop band from the 1980s which is also going to tour this year, will be coming to a venue near you, unless you live in rural Kentucky.
The show which caught our attention is his scheduled April 21st performance at the 9:30 Club in Washington, DC, which will assuredly be attended by Cong. Bob Goodlatte (R-Va), Cong. Virginia Foxx (R-NC) and Cong. Jason Chaffetz (R-Va), which reminds of the old Frank Zappa saying: "When God invented Republicans, he showed he has a sense of humor."
Culture Club, which is known for a number of top ten hits including "Karma Chameleon," has actually toured as well in recent years, including a 2011 concert in Dubai!
Boy George also sang with Bono, the lead singer of U2, on "Do They Know It's Christmas Time at Home?"....amazingly enough, both singers cite David Bowie as a major influence on them.
The lead singer of Culture Club is actually on tour with solo shows in Europe, we think he played somewhere in Belgium last night.
And, in addition to his 9:30 Club show, which costs $35, he will be at Irving Plaza in New York on the following night, April 22nd.

Quotes from the Little Thinkers (4 of 16): Frida Kahlo
Greetings to our blog-readers in Denmark, Italy and Hungary (we seem to be more popular in Europe than we are here in American, well..........perhaps!).
Today we quote the iconic Mexican artist Frida Kahlo, who died at a relatively young age when she was 47. There is a very popular restaurant in Antigua, Guatemala, called Frida's. Apparently, getting a seat for a Duke University men's basketball game in Durham, NC, is easier than getting a seat at Frida's.
Recently, we saw a Frida Kahlo Little Thinker doll alongside the likes of Andy Warhol and Salvador Dali at the Denver Museum (if memory serves us correctly) where there is a currently an exhibit of French impressionist art (ie. Claude Monet) until Feb. 9th.
One may also be able to find a Frida Kahlo plush toy at the Corcoran Art Museum's gift shop in Washington, DC, where an exhibit entitled "Mia Feur: An Unkindness" in underway. The museum's web site describes that exhibit as 'an examination of the relationships between human infrastructure and the natural world."
Here is our quote from Frida Kahlo:
"I never paint dreams or nightmares. I paint my own reality."

Presidential Quotes (12 of 16): James A Garfield
Today, we quote president James A. Garfield (1831-1881), who was president for a mere six months before being assassinated by a very troubled Charles J. Guiteau, who was executed by hanging for his crime though there was evidence of him being insane.
Here is our quote from Garfield, who was a Republican: "A brave man is a who dares to look the Devil in the face and tell him he is the Devil."
SIDEBAR: Today was a major day on Capitol Hill. No, there was no meaningful legislation passed, but three members of the House of Representatives announced they would retire and/or not seek re-election.
The first is Cong. Frank Wolf (R-Va), a man the blogger got to know when reporting for a newspaper in Woodstock, Va., which was then in Wolf's 10th district (it is now in Cong. Bob Goodlatte's sixth district). Wolf was one of the main champions of human rights on the Hill, and he even traveled to troubled countries, such as Sudan (and what is now South Sudan), to report on mass atrocities. Today, one of the people who praised Wolf was former Cong. Tom Perriello (D-VA), now a progressive activist, for Wolf's role in recognizing human rights.
Cong. Jim Matheson (D-Utah), who was arguably the most conservative Democrat in the House, which is understandable given that his district was very ultra-conservative. Matheson won his much- publicized last election over Mia Love, who is a rare African-American female Republican. Like Matheson, Love is a practicing Mormon, though she converted into the faith.
Late in the day, Cong. Tom Latham (R-Iowa), one of House Speaker John Boehner's (R-Ohio) main allies in the House also announced he was stepping down.

Quote of the Day: Abraham Lincoln
Yes, we have come to the 16th President Abraham Lincoln, who is one of the four Mount Rushmore presidents in South Dakota. Ford's Theatre in Washington, DC, where Lincoln was assassinated by John Wilkes Booth is both a museum and a working stage company. They are currently producing their annual staging of the Charles Dickens classic "A Christmas Carol."
Here is quote from Lincoln, whom actor Daniel Day Lewis won an Oscar for in the film "Lincoln," which was filmed partially in Petersburg, Va. (near Richmond):
"You cannot escape the responsibility of tomorrow by evading it today."

The Last Ten Films I've Seen: Novel Ideas
I was completely oblivious to the fact that Angelica Huston (pictured bottom) has written a new memoir called "A Story Lately Told," which she will be promoting on "Fresh Air with Terry Gross" tomorrow when I watched one of her very earliest film roles "A Walk with Love and Death" (1969).
Like "Oliver Twist" (1949), one of many filmations of the Charles Dickens novel, and "Ender's Game" (2013), the current film based on one of Orson Scott Card's signature science-fiction novel, which is number two on the top ten fiction books being sold in the Washington, DC-metro area list on "The Washington Post" (Card lives some six hours south of DC in Greensboro, NC), "A Walk with Love and Death" is based on a novel.
We got this idea from "Film Comment" magazine, the current issue has a photo of actor Oscar Isaac in the Coen Brothers' new film "Inside Llewyn Davis" on its cover, and "Oliver Twist" is one of many films being offered by the Criterion Collection.
Several of these films were also taped from Turners Classics Movies, which has an amazing lineup of films tonight, including "Elephant Man" (1980. dir-David Lynch).
Without further adieu, here are the last ten films I've seen as of Saturday:
1. "Oliver Twist" (1949. dir-David Lean)
2. "Ender's Game" (2013 dir-Gavin Hood)
3. "A Walk with Love and Death" (1969 dir-John Huston)
4. "Creature from the Black Lagoon" (1954 dir-Jack Arnold)
5. "Memories of Murder" (South Korea. 2003. dir-Joon-ho Bong)
6. "The Beat Generation (1959 dir-Charles F. Haas)
7. "The Defiant Ones" (1958 dir-Stanley Kramer)
8. "Caged" (1950. dir-John Cromwell)
9. "Mrs. Soffel" (1984. dir-Gillian Armstrong)
10. "Gravity" (2013. dir-Alfonso Cuaron)
SIDEBAR: For those in the DC-metro area, graphic novel writer Joe Sacco will be promoting his new work "The Great War...." at Politics and Prose, an independent bookstore in Washington, DC, on Wednesday at 7:00 p.m. Sacco's amazing work includes graphic novels on the Bosnian war and the West Bank in Israel.

Hooray..........the Shutdown is Over
Park rangers, Washington DC-area taxi drivers and museum guards can rejoice, the federal government shutdown is over.
WRAL-TV out of Raleigh, NC, listed all the House members who voted for and against the House bill that ended the shutdown. Every Democrat in the House supported the measure, but a fair number of Republicans decided enough is enough as well.
In the Tarheel State, the three Republican congressional members who voted to cease the shutdown were Congs. Howard Coble, Robert Pettinger and Patrick McHenry.
The Republicans who towed the arch conservative party line were: Renee Ellmers, Virginia Foxx, Walter Jones, Richard Hudson, Mark Meadows and George Holding.
The Democratic members from North Carolina are: David Price, Mike McIntyre, Mel Watt and G.K. Butterfield.
Both the Great Smoky National Park and the Wright Brothers National Memorial will now be in full operation once again.

DC Week (6 of 8): Cong. Reps from Blue States
Today, Cong. Chris Van Hollen (pictured top) made headlines when he was informed by Cong. Jason Chaffetz (R-Utah), who was presiding in the speaker's chair, that Democrats in the House could not introduce legislation to end the government shutdown. The video of the spat went viral, and the incident was subject of stories in both "The Salt Lake Tribune" and "The Baltimore Sun."
Since the government shutdown has just concluded the 15th day of deadlock, we thought we'd post two boxers as the middle image.
The first image is of Cong. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) who should be mistaken for ventriloquist comedian Jeff Dunham. While the House has a reputation for being a group of grumpy old men, Denham is only 46 years and there are two House members on this list who are younger than him.
Denham is also one of only 17 House members (from both parties) who lives in a competitive district, according to "The San Francisco Chronicle."
Here are 10 House members from Blue states:
1. Chris Von Hollen (D-Md.), fifth dist., 54, budget committee
2. Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.), 48, 23rd district, minority whip; financial services
3. Adam Kinzinger (R-Ill.), 35, 15th dist., energy and commerce; foreign affairs
4. Pete Welch (D-Vt.), 66, energy and commerce
5. Jim Langevin (D-R.I), 49, 2nd dist., Armed services
6. Pete King (R-NY), 69, 2nd dist., Financial services; foreign affairs
7. Jeff Denham (R-Calif.) 46, 9th dist., agriculture; transportation and infrastructure
8. Elizabeth Esty (D-Conn.), 56, 5th dist., science, space and technology; transportation and infrastructure
9.Niki Tsongas, (D-Mass.), 67, 3rd dist., Armed Services; Natural Resources
10. Michael Grimm (R-NY), 43, 11th dist., Financial Services

DC Week (4 of 8): A Quote from SCOTUS Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg
Today, we have a quote from Ruth Bader Ginsburg, 80, who is one of the Supreme Court's more progressive justices. She recently made headlines by presiding over a gay wedding at the Kennedy Center in Washington, DC.
Ginsburg was also profiled for the cover story of "The Washington Post Magazine" in the Oct. 6th issue. The article was written by Robert Barnes. Reading it is on our 20 things to do list.
Before we get to Ginsburg's quote, I want to wish our readers in other parts of the world "Good Morning." It is now 8:30 a.m. (08:30) in Istanbul and Athens while it is almost 9:30 a.m. (09:30) in Dubai.
Here is Ginsburg's quote pertaining to the abortion debate:
"The state controlling a woman would mean denying her full autonomy and full equality."
For a quote from one of the more, if not the most, right-wing SCOTUS member, check out a quote from Clarence Thomas (not an endorsement), one our sister blog: http://www.politicscultureanotherwastesoft.blogspot.com

DC Week (3 of 8): The Onion's Take on Congress
The images here are of: 1) Cong. Howard Coble (R-NC), who at 82 is one of the oldest members of the House though he is a few years younger than Cong. John Dingell (D-Mich.; born in 1926); 2) A poster for "D.C. Cab" which starred cult acting sensation Mister T, who is now 61! and 3) Den. Mark Warner (D-Va), who at age 58 is three years younger than Mister T.
Warner, along with Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), is in a group of party centrists trying to resolve the government shut down. which is actually causing economic problems for DC-Metro area cabbies.
Here are the tweets, concerning not only the federal shut down, but also other things going on in Washington, DC:
1) Howard Coble: "14 Democrats agree U.S. has a spending and debt program."
2) Washington Diplomat: "Embassy warns Americans in Egypt that weekend protest could turn violent."
3) Jonathan Chait (a liberal journalist with "New York" magazine): "Once Republicans realized shutting down the government wouldn't stop Obamacare, they already printed up the t-shrts."
4) Roll Call: "Susan Collins Stands Behind Plan as Leaders Attempt Larger Deals."
5) Arizona Democratic Party: "It's time we let the tea party know the future of our country is not a game! #EndtheShutdown."

DC Week (2 of 8): Tweets About the Nation's Capital and the Government Shutdown
With images of 1) Cong. Jim Matheson (D-Utah); 2) Mabry Mill, near Roanoke, Va., which has been closed due to the federal government shutdown; and 3) Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine), we begin our first of two entries in this eight-entry series geared towards Washington, D.C.
"The Roanoke Times" reported that Mabry Mill, which is located on the Blue Ridge Parkway, could be reopen. Today, President Barack Obama said that states could re-open national parks with state funds. As a result, The Statue of Liberty, The Grand Canyon and Mount Rushmore are likely to re-open.
Cong. Jim Matheson (D-Utah) is considered to be the most conservative Democrat in the House, while Sen. Susan Collins (R-Maine) is considered to be the most progressive Republican in the Senate. Both are reportedly working diligently to find the proverbial common ground to restart the federal government, which is now in Day 10 of a shutdown.
Here are the tweets:
1) Cong. Jim Matheson: "Glad Utah National Parks are open. Too bad we can't vote on a clean CR (Continuing Resolution) to operate rest of the government."
2) National Review (a conservative magazine): "Barack Obama can close our parks, but he's never block American enterprise."
3) The Hill: "Chris Christie (New Jersey's Republican governor): If I was in the Senate right now, I'd kill myself."
4) Embassy of Greece: "The Embassy and Consulate will be closed on Monday. Happy #ColumbusDay weekend."
5) Politico: "New York is donating $369,300 to have park service employees reopen the Statue of Liberty."
6) Bruce Bartlett (a Republican political aide): "David Frum: Will the Republican Moderates Please Stand Up."

DC Week (1 of 8): A Quote from George Washington
We start DC Week with a simple entry featuring a quote from America's first president George Washington. Of course, thanks to the likes of Cong. Eric Cantor (R-Va., forgive the editorial commentary), the Washington Memorial is closed as are all national parks in Washington, DC, and around the nation.
One fiasco that the shut down caused was the scheduled cross-country journey of a Tyrannosaurs Rex skeleton belonging to a 67 million-year-old dinosaur, whose name is Wankel T-Rex, from Montana to the nation's capital where it was to be displayed at the Smithsonian Natural Museum of Natural History.
Oh well................
As for Washington, his face is on our one dollar bills (I suppose those of you in El Salvador, Moldova and Zimbabwe already knew that) and if one is to find a one-dollar bill at the Beach Bum Café in Honolulu, Hawaii, you can see where it originated_ perhaps it originated at a gas station in Passaic, NJ.
Here is our quote from the first prez:
"Guard against the impostures of pretended patriotism."
Oh, and we should add that there is a high school in Danville, Va., named for GW.

DC Week Teaser (2 of 2): No Pandas, No Problem
Yes, talking heads are bickering on CNN with Anderson Cooper acting as a pro-wrestling referee as we speak, and we imagine that over on Fox News Sean Hannity is blaming his jock itch on President Barack Obama (we don't go there that often, but we couldn't resist!).
On Thursday, we will start a week-long tribute to Washington, DC, the nation's capital, which many Tea Partiers who profess patriotism ironically seemingly hate with a great passion. For those of you in Uzbekistan, there is a federal government shutdown in the United States, which is affecting Washington, D.C., as well as national parks in such red states as Wyoming, Arizona and Utah.
The images pictured above are of: 1) Alex Ovechkin, the star player of the Washington Capitals (ironically, a Russian is the star player for the Caps!); 2) a panda..........currently the National Zoo which had been running a pandacam for a baby panda cub is closed due to the shut down; 3) Cong. Walter Jones (R-NC; he coined the term Freedom fries).
