Greetings to our blog readers in Chile, Spain, and South Africa......
The images above are of: 1) Adam West and Burt Ward from the '60s tv version of "Batman," 2) R.Crumb's "Fritz the Cat" and 3) the late Bob Denver as Gilligan on another '60s tv series "Gilligan's Island." These are in reference to our top three finishers: 1) "Prickly City," 2) "Lio" and 3) "Non Sequitur." This is the very first time Scott Stantis' "Prickly City" has been our top choice, though it is frequently in the top ten.
In "Prickly City," the two title characters, a cat and a little girl, are blind-folded and they say: "Now, we finally see eye to eye" or something to that effect. In Mark Tatulli's "Lio," the title character, a ten-year-old boy named Lio who never ages (but he is otherwise quite different from Charlie Brown and Dennis the Menace) gets pulled by an angry cat to a liquor store. And, in "Non-Sequitur" by a cartoonist named Wiley, a man's hops to get off the desert island are dashed.

Summer Vacation ....(well, not exactly)
Well folks, I am both too busy and too overwhelmed and for at least a brief while something has to give. I am hereby putting both of my blogs on a two-week hiatus as the real world has reared its proverbial ugly head. But, we will come back with our usual array of entries ranging from beers in the Muslim world to celebrities who may or may not still be with us.........the next entry in that series is scheduled to former game show host Richard Dawson ("Family Feud") and I am still in the process of determining if he is indeed with us or not with us!

Vampire's Day Off .........(well from blogging)
It appears that I will be quite busy tomorrow, but we're hoping that's not the case. But, in case, it is hang in there, for in all likelihood, I will be back on Wednesday.
In the meantime, keep in mind that ManBitesDog Theatre in Durham, NC, will be performing the Waiting for Guffmanesque play "Act a Lady" by Jordan Harrison from Dec. 4-20, 2008.
And, The Virginia Stage Company in Norfolk, Va., will join 539 theatres across the country in performing a stage rendition of Charles Dickens' "A Christmas Carol." It runs from Dec. 3-23, 2008. Perhaps, my good friend Tom Angleberger (a children's book author) and his wife CeCe Bell (also a children's book writer) might go there since Tom likes Dickens as much as I like bad Japanese movies..........
