Celebrity Birthday- Tea Leoni is 43

Tea Leoni turns 43 today. The actress who is married to David Duchovny (though they are supposedly separated at the moment) starred in "Ghost Town" with Ricky Gervais last year.

Leoni made it as a sitcom star with "Flying Blind" and "The Naked Truth." Like Robin Wright Penn, she started out on the soap opera "Santa Barbara."

She is also an alumnus of Sarah Lawrence College.

During a celebrity edition of "Who Wants to Be a Millionaire," she responded: "You're screwed, honey" to Duchovny after he called her during the phone-a-friend phase of the game.

Since St. Patty's Day is just around the corner, we thought we'd have quotes from two Irish singers on our respective blogs ("Politics, Culture, and Other Wastes of Time" is the other).

Congratulations to Slumdog Millionaire

"Frost/Nixon" was actually my favorite film of the year, but "Slumdog Millionaire" was certainly in the top five, and it's great to see a film with a Bollywood flavor get the kind of recognition that 'Slumdog' has recieved.

Oscar has chosen films like "Driving Miss Daisy" and "Titanic" for Best Picture, so it is always refreshing when they choose a very good film.

Go Highlanders Go!

My beloved alma mater of Radford University, located in Radford, Va., is sitting on top of the Big South Conference in men's basketball. On Monday, they beat Charleston Southern University 80-71.

On Saturday, they go to Lexington, Va., to face the VMI Keydets in a key game. VMI has been battling with Radford for first place in the conference much of the season. The game will tip off at 4 p.m. at it will be televised on MASN, which is available from Maryland to North Carolina.

The school has a Homecoming Weekend starting on Feb. 26. That weekend, they host arch rivals Liberty University from Lynchburg, Va. (yeah it's Jerry Falwell's school, but his son now runs the school since he has died) for another important game on Saturday.

Among the stand-out for the Highlanders is center Art Parakhouski from Minsk, Belarus. He is the reason why I considered naming this entry "From Belarus with Love," but I came to the realization that it indeed sound pretty awful!

UPDATE: RU won their big game over VMI by a 97-90 count.
